Central proximity to two large markets with substantial supplies of <br />event venues and traditional visitor/convention amenities- San Marcos' <br />proximity to San Antonio and Austin can be beneficial in many ways, in <br />terms of its ability to draw attendees from the larger market area. <br />However, the nearby presence of a large market can also be viewed <br />negatively. Specifically, larger markets tend to offer numerous meeting <br />and event facilities of all sizes. Some of the greater San Antonio and/or <br />Austin area's small and medium-sized facilities could compete with the San <br />Marcos convention center for certain state and regional events.
