I

I

I

Form 6e. Consistency with the Regional Solid Waste Management Plan
Reference the goals, objectives, and/or recommendations from the Regional Solid Waste
Management Plan that apply to the project, and how the project will assist in implementing the
plan. Please refer to the application instructions.

Goal #1: Develop and manage a Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection and diversion
program.

Goal #14: Provide permanent household hazardous waste collection facilities throughout the
regIOn.

The City of San Marcos along with Hays County currently budget money for our citizens to
dispose of household hazardous waste at yearly events. We were awarded a grant for a
permanent facility and are moving forward with setting up the facility. Having a building
specifically for re-use will provide citizens the opportunity to obtain items they would otherwise
purchase. This building would allow us to keep the disposal costs down by recycling usable
material. Recycled paint is always in demand by the public. The City of San Marcos will
operate the facility, pay for training and operating expenses but would appreciate help with the
higher budget items such as this building.
