She encouraged <br />I the Council to not allow the neighborhoods to become parking lots. 9) <br />Corina Jaimes stated she wished to speak on Item 33, discussion regarding <br />the Hughson Heights Diverters. She encouraged the Council to remove the <br />traffic diverters. She stated she is unable to get to her house from the <br />light on RR12. She stated she feels there are problems with safety in this <br />area and the Council needs to look at different perspectives. 10) Jane <br />Hughson stated she wished to speak on Item 33, discussion regarding the <br />Hughson Heights Diverters. She stated she is a member of the <br />Transportation Advisory Board. She stated the Transportation Advisory <br />Board supports the removal of the diverters. She stated there is another <br />option, which the Transportation Advisory Board did not discuss, which is <br />leaving the diverters on narrow streets and remove the diverter on Hughson. <br />She stated if the Council would like the Transportation Advisory Board <br />could discuss this and then bring it back to the Council for consideration. <br />11) Keith Ralph stated he wished to speak on Item 33, discussion regarding <br />traffic problems. He stated he feels there is a parking problem on Alamo <br />growing each semester. He stated students park their cars in the <br />neighborhood and then get on to bikes and ride to campus. He encouraged <br />the Council to help with this problem. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not <br />I have a Staff Report. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Reports. 1) Mr. Jones thanked <br />Boy Scout Troop 112 for attending the City Council Meeting tonight. 2) Mr. <br />Jones encouraged all the citizens of San Marcos to attend the San Marcos <br />Rattler Football game on Friday, November 25, 2006. 3) Mayor Narvaiz <br />stated she is honored to be the Mayor of the City of San Marcos and she <br />thanked the citizens for allowing her to serve another term. 4) Mayor <br />Narvaiz provided the Council with a copy of her Council Report from <br />November 6 to November 21, 2006. She stated she read to 3rd and 4th graders <br />at Bowie Elementary. 5) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the 100th <br />Birthday Party of Guadalupe Diaz Samineigo. She stated she felt special to <br />be a part of this celebration. 6) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the <br />farewell reception for Dr. Perez. 7) Mayor Narvaiz stated she spoke at the <br />Southside Community Center Thanksgiving Dinner. 8) Mayor Narvaiz thanked <br />the citizens and the Staff for attending the State of the City Address. 9) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she spent the afternoon with the University Provost <br />Moore and Commissioner Debbie Ingalsbe discussing the situations on <br />students parking in streets and also the proposed creation of a Resident's <br />Only Ordinance. 10) Mayor Narvaiz stated Dos Flores is hosting their <br />annual Thanksgiving Dinner memory of parents on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to <br />2:00 p.m. She stated last year they fed 200 people at no cost. 11) <br />I Donovan Knight stated the ASG would like to congratulate the new Council <br />Members and the re-elected Mayor and Council Member, 12) Donovan Knight <br />stated he and ASG President Kyle Morris attended a Conference in San <br />Antonio where the tax-free textbooks were discussed. <br />
