I I II ORDINANCE NO. 2006- 55 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING DIVISION 15 OF ARTICLE 3 OF CHAPTER 2 OF THE CITY CODE TO CHANGE THE NAME OF THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU BOARD TO THE CONVENTION AND VISITOR BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD; AMENDING OTHER CITY CODE SECTIONS TO CONFORM TO THIS CHANGE; CHANGING THE COMPOSITION AND DUTIES OF THE BOARD; INCLUDING PROCEDURAL PROVISIONS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. RECITALS: 1. The Convention and Visitors Bureau Board (the "Board"), established by City Code Section 2.351, oversees the tourism promotional activities of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, which are funded with City hotel occupancy taxes. 2. The City Council wishes to change the name of the Board to the "Convention and Visitor Advisory Board" and make revisions to the composition of the Board. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. Division 15 of Article 3 of Chapter 2 of the City Code is amended as follows (underlining indicates added text; overstrike indicates deleted text): DIVISION 13. CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU ADVISORY BOARD Sec. 2.351. Created; composition; terms; officers. (a) The convention and visitors bureau advisory board is created, composed of II -l-l- voting members appointed by the city council as described in subsection (b), and five non-voting ex-officio members: the city manager, the president and a vice-chair of the board of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce, the president of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the economic development director of the Greatef Economic Development San Marcos Economic Dtwelopment Council. (b) The city council will endeavor to appoint persons who are representative of the following groups, organizations or interests as voting members of the board:
