Ouestion and Answer Session with Press_ and Public <br />Diane Coffee, 702 Waco St: Do we have the right to raise sales tax to cover this purchase? <br />Mayor Guerrero informed her that we are already capped on sales tax. <br />Rachel Betts, 828 Waco St: Do you think this will limit the voters ability by having eminent <br />domain or raising taxes included? The citizen did not allow the Mayor to respond before leaving <br />the podium. <br />Cori Schwartz, 101 W. Mimosa Circle: Do you already have the right to use eminent domain? <br />Mayor Guerrero informed her that yes, we do. <br />Chad Williams, 803 S. Loop St: Do you feel that a voter could not vote no on eminent domain? <br />This question was not answered. <br />Gina (last name was inaudible), 1013 Dartmouth, Do you really think that when voters really <br />think it would not vote for have a tax raising increase? Mayor Guerrero stated that the challenge <br />is the timing and all of the information. <br />Samantha Armbruster, 424 Settlers Rd: Wouldn't you include by grant funds, if necessary? <br />Mayor Guerrero stated that this is inherent with any land acquisition that we do. <br />8. Adiournment <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Scott and a second by Council Member <br />Thomason, the City Council voted (7) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the special meeting <br />of the City Council on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 7:57 p.m..
