Section 1.4 Operation of Collection Services <br /> <br />1.4. I Quality <br /> <br /> A. The Contractor will not spill or leave residential solid waste remaining when making pickups. <br />If the Contractor spills residential solid waste it will clean the spilI by whatever meaos necessary before <br />the truck leaves the premises. The Contractor will clean up liquid and hydraulic spills with an absorbent <br />that will be carried oo all trucks. Ifa spill leaves a staio oo a roadway, building, or other similar surface, <br />the Contractor will use all reasonable means available to remove the staio and restore the facility to the <br />satisfaction of the Director. <br /> <br /> B. The Coutractor will be responsible for injuries to any person and damage to aay property, <br />iocluding City-owned property caused by willfid wrongfnI or negligent acts related to the Coutractor's <br />operations and activities under this Contract. <br /> <br /> C. The Contractor will replace all residential cm~cs/recycling bins damaged by the Contractor with <br />new ones, or used ones that are in a coadition acceptable to the Director, free of charge upon cnstomer <br />reqnest. For residential carts/recycling bios damaged by other causes, or stolen, the Contractor wilI <br />provide a replacement (either a new one, or a used ooe iu a conditioo acceptable to the Director) npoo <br />customer request at oo charge for up to one cart/bin per customer per year; aod the customer wilI be <br />responsible for cart/bin replacement in excess ofooe per year, at the Cootractor's cost. <br /> <br />1.4.2 Collection Routes <br /> <br /> A. The Cootractor will establish resideotial unit collection routes and will submit a map <br />designatiug the collection routes and times to the Director for approval. The Contractor may propose <br />changes in routes or days of collection affecting residential units by submitting a written request at least <br />30 days in advance, unless a shorter period of time is approved by the Director. Any change in routes or <br />scheduling will be subject to approval by the Director prior to implementatioo. The Contractor will <br />deliver a written notice of approved changes to each affected residential uoit at least 30 days prior to the <br />change, nnless a shorter period of notice is approved by tbe Director. <br /> <br /> B. The Contractor will publish a map of the approved residential onit collection days for respective <br />portions of the contract area in a newspaper circulated iQ the cootract area at least twice during each <br />calendar year. <br /> <br /> C. The Contractor will not commence any solid waste collection prior to 7:00 a.m. or after 7:00 <br />p.m., unless otherwise approved by the Director. <br /> <br />1.4.3 Holidays <br /> <br />The Contractor may observe six legal holidays iQ each caleodar year (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, <br />Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day). Ifa holiday is to be observed, tbe <br />Contractor will publish a notice in a oewspaper circulated in the contract area advertising the change in <br />the schedule. A decision to observe any of the above holidays does not relieve the Contractor of its <br />obligation to provide the same fi'eqaency of collection service for that week of the holiday, as stated in <br />this contract, for residential units. The Contractor wilI perform required collections on an alternate day of <br />each week ia which a holiday falls. <br /> <br /> <br />
