The Consultant will:

1.4.1 Inspect verification of weld ability of reinforcing steel other than ASTM A 706
periodically.

1.4.2 Inspect reinforcing steel resisting flexural and axial forces in intermediate and special
moment frames and boundary elements or special reinforced concrete shear walls continuously.

1.4.3 Inspect shear reinforcement continuously.

1.4.4 Inspect other reinforcing steel periodically.

1.4.5 Inspect reinforcing steel prior to concrete placements.

1.5. TASK 4 - CONCRETE

The Consultant will:

1.5.1 Sample and test concrete for quality control to the following standards:

a) Fresh Concrete - ASTM C 172, except modified for slump to comply with ASTM C
94.
b) Slump - ASTM C 143; one test at point of placement for each compressive strength
test, but no less than one test for each concrete load.
c) Air Content - ASTM C 231, pressure method; one test for each compressive-strength
test.
d) Concrete Temperature - ASTM 1064; one test hourly when air temperature is 40
degrees Fahrenheit and below and when 80 degrees Fahrenheit and above, and one
test for each set of compressive-strength specimens.
e) Compression Test Specimens - ASTM C 31; one set of four standard cylinders for
each compressive-strength test, unless otherwise directed. Mold and store cylinders
for laboratory-cured test specimens, unless field cured test specimens are required.
f) Compressive-Strength Tests - ASTM C 39; one set for each drilled pier, but not more
than one set for each truck load. Test one specimen at 7 days, test two specimens at
28 days, and retain one specimen in reserve for later testing as required.

1.5.2 Perform continuous inspection of bolts installed in concrete prior to and during placement
of concrete where allowable loads have been increased.

1.5.3 Provide periodic verification of required design mix.

1.5.4 Perform continuous inspection of sampling of fresh concrete for:

PSI Conference Center Testing.doc

4

I

I

I
