Box 13087 <br /> i Austin, Texas 78711-3087 <br /> I <br /> , <br /> : <br /> Dear Mr. Pearson: <br /> We are requesting, your approval, according to Chapter 310 of 30 Texas Administrative Code <br /> (T AC) pertaining to the use of reclaimed water, to use water treated in the San Marcos <br /> Wastewater Treatment Plant for use on both restricted and unrestricted landscape areas within the <br /> jurisdiction of the City of San Marcos. At the present time, the reclaimed water will be <br /> processed through a pilot process knoVvTI as the Photo * Peri Water Treatment System and <br /> disinfected prior to being used. Once the remodeling of the San Marcos Wastewater Treatment <br /> Plant is completed for the new wastewater permit issued (5-5-2-1), the effluent 'will be used as a <br /> source for the reclaimed water. . <br /> PROPOSAL <br /> Due to the current acute drought conditions being experienced in this area, the City of San <br /> Marcos is proposing to temporarily utilize reclaimed water for irrigation proposes. Currently, the <br /> water will be obtained from the final clarifier of the San Marcos Wastewater Treatment Plant and <br /> will be processed through the full scale Photo * Peri Water Treatment Pilot Plant and will under <br />.~ go a disinfection process prior to being trucked to governmental landscape areas for irrigation <br />! purposes. This proposal will offset the need for using potable water for the purpose of irrigation <br />I of restricted and unrestricted landscape areas. <br /> The reclaimed water will be used for irrigation of seedling and distressed trees on City-owned <br /> property throughout the city; turf areas on soccer, softball and little league fields; landscape <br /> areas at City Hall, the Activity Center, Parks and Recreational Offices, the Old Fish Hatchery, <br /> Public Works Offices, Wastewater and Water Treatment Offices, Municipal Building~, Police <br /> Stations, Fire Stations, Cock House, Library, and ail governmental buildings; City Park and all <br /> other city parks; golf courses and playing fields; and for flushing of wastewater collection <br /> systems. An estimated maximum quantity of 12.5 Mgals per week of reclaimed water meeting <br /> the criteria for unrestricted landscaped areas, including a 30-day average, shall have a quality not <br /> to exceed a BODS of 5 mg/l, turbidity of 3 NTU, and fecal coliform of 75CFU/1 OOml will be <br /> utilized. <br /> City Hall. 630 East Hopkins.
