<br />~7ß <br />Distribution of reclaimed water will be monitored from the San Marcos Wastewater Treatment <br />Plant by means of a water meter at the site of pickup. A similar water meter will be attached to <br />each storage tank at the site of irrigation to monitor the amounts of reclaimed water being used. <br />PLAN FOR SCHEDULED USE OF RECLAIM WATER <br />In order to minimize the risk of inadvertent human exposure to reclaimed water the, following <br />plan will be implemented. <br />1. Handling and posting of equipment used for site application of reclaimed water. <br />Reclaimed water will be hauled to the site( s) in water tanker trucks or appropriate <br />conveyance that will be clearly labeled as NON-POTABLE WATER. All water <br />handling equipment will be equipped with backflow preventers. <br />2. Water use schedules will be set for times when park areas are not in use by the public. <br />A. Playing fields are fenced and controlled. Irrigation of reclaimed water will be <br />applied when fields are not in use and fields have sufficient time to dry. In most <br />cases irrigation ofthese fields will be done in the off season (before and after) little <br />league baseball, softball, football, or soccer. <br />B. Tree and other landscape planting irrigation will be done in early morning hours. <br />C. Other turf areas will be irrigated in the early morning and allowed to dry prior to <br />human entry or activity. . <br />SCHEDULE FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE <br />All equipment used in handling or storing reclaimed water will be inspected prior to use and <br />during use. Any detectable faults with equipment found during routine maintenance will be <br />repaired, replaced or removed from operation. <br />\-VORKER SAFETY AND TRAINING <br />All workers will be trained on the use of reclaimed water similar to the training furnished for <br />pesticide use and safety. Appropriate equipment will be furnished for the workers. <br />CONTINGENCY PLAN FOR SYSTEM FAILURE AND UPSETS <br />A contingency plan for system failure and upsets will be established and will include .the <br />following: <br />1. Storage tanks will be protected by being placed in a restricted areas. Locks will be <br />placed on the valves. Access to the general public will not be allowed. Berms will be <br />placed around storage tanks to contain any spills. All reasonable precautions will be <br />taken to prevent spills. If spills should occur the contaminated area will be disinfected. <br />
