Ms. Anderson stated <br />parcel #5 has not received an appraisal yet, and parcel ~6 is owned by the <br />City and is being donated. She stated TxDOT would be appreciative of the <br />City if we aggressively help in acquiring these parcels. Mr. Thomaides <br />stated the Wonder World Drive Overpass was the #1 rated project by the <br />citizens in the citizen survey. Ms. Narvaiz stated she feels Staff should <br />get the Council involved when needed to expedite this project. Mr. <br />O'Leary stated one of the parcels is owned by SMCISD and the Council could <br />talk to the School Board regarding the access issue with the school bus <br />barn~ Mayor Habingreither asked Mr. Mark Taylor to draft a letter to the <br />SMCISD School Board. Mr. Mihalkanin stated he feels all the Council <br />Members should sign~ this letter. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced the City Council's Report. 1) Ms. Narvaiz <br />stated the Texas Natural Swing Festival was a great success and she feels <br />it was more successful than in the past. 2) Ms. Narvaiz stated the <br />Special Olympics held this past weekend had a $2 million dollar impact. <br />She also thanked all the volunteers and City Staff for their hard work. <br />3) Ms. Narvaiz thanked Southwest Texas State University for working with <br />the Hospitality Association to offer discounts to parents whom were <br />visiting Southwest Texas State University. 4) Mayor Habingreither stated <br />delegates from Santiago Nuevo Leon, Mexico will be visiting San Marcos on <br />Monday, June 2, 2003. Me briefed the Council on the tentative schedule <br />and encouraged them to participate. 5) Ms. Narvaiz stated she and Mr. <br />Thomaides attended a Convention and Visitor Bureau Meeting and were <br />impressed with their Staff trying to match the City's budget cuts. 6) <br />Mayor Habingreither stated he missed the American Legion function on <br />Saturday, May 24, 2003, due to a mix up. 7) Mayor Habingreither stated he <br />spoke at the VFW function on Monday, May 26, 2003. 8) Mayor Habingreither <br />stated he has been thinking about a smoking ordinance compromise. He <br />asked Council to consider a smoking ban in restaurants, which do not serve <br />alcohol. Me stated he would like to bring this issue back to the Council <br />in the near future. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced an Executive Session pursuant to the <br />Government Code, Section 551.071, to seek the City Attorney's advice <br />regarding pending litigation, contemplated litigation, a settlement offer, <br />or a matter involving attorney-client privilege (election campaign flyer, <br />ice storm damage claim and Youth Services Bureau contract); and Section <br />551.072 and Section 551.073, to discuss purchase of real property (Wonder <br />World Drive area); and Section 551.074, to discuss the dismissal of a <br />public officer (Human Services Advisory Board member); and Section <br />551.086, to discuss commercial or financial information the City has <br />received from a business prospect with which the City is conducting <br />economic development negotiations, or to deliberate the offer of a <br />financial or other incentive to such a business prospect (Post Road Area). <br />Mr. Mihalkanin moved the Council adjourn into Executive Session at 10:29 <br />p.m. and Ms. Narvaiz seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />
