Sector Two Chapter 2 - Today
In recent years, more apartment units than houses have been constructed or proposed
within the city, so the percentage of renter occupied units is expected to rise. However, in
Sector Two, the majority of construction since 1990 has been new single family homes.
Over 200 homes have been built in Sector Two since 1990 primarily in the Greater Castle
Forest neighborhood with scattered construction of homes in the Oak Heights, Westover,
Southwest Hills, and Weatherford Heights neighborhoods. In addition, the Bishop's
Crossing subdivision south of Castle Forest (now known as Franklin Square) will include
a total of 159 new single family houses at full buildout. Since 1990, 34 duplex units and
no apartments have been built in the Sector. In addition, there has been no other new
construction since 1990 in Sector Two. Although 2000 Census figures are not yet
available on owner -vs.- renter occupied units, Sector Two should continue to see a trend
towards a higher percentage of owner occupancy as new single family homes continue to
be built in the area.
Adopted: July 23, 2001 2 -14
