Sector Two Chapter 3 - Tomorrow
Bicycle Routes
In the near future the City will begin development of a new citywide Thoroughfare Plan
that will include a bicycling component that will address in more detail the identification
of bike routes throughout the city and will include guidelines for their development. This
Sector Two Plan identifies the following streets as potential bike routes in the Sector,
which include on street routes, dedicated on- street bicycle lanes, and off - street bicycle
paths:
• Ranch Road 12 —bike path
• Craddock Ave. — bike path or bike lanes
• Bishop St. — bike lanes
• Franklin Dr. — bike lanes
• Hazelton St. — bike lanes or bike route
• Allen St. — bike lanes or bike route (parallel alternative to Bishop St.)
• Columbia Ave. — bike route
• Prospect St. — bike route
Public Transportation
As the City grows it will be important to plan for accessibility to alternative means of
transportation, particularly for those who are unable to drive such as the elderly,
physically disabled, and transit - dependent. Pedestrian - friendly neighborhoods encourage
transit use by making it easier to travel from your home to the nearest transit stop and
from the transit stop to your final destination.
New commercial development should consider the needs of transit users in the site
design, by including a specific location for a transit stop (in consultation with transit
providers) and by providing convenient pedestrian access from the transit stop to the
place of business.
Adopted: July 23, 2001 3 -14
