]fJ
A minimum of 20 minutes will be spent in locating structures in order for the access
inspections to be counted for payment. A list of "could-not-Iocate" or "inaccessible"
access structures will be submitted to the CITY. Once the CITY has located and
provided access to these structures, ADS will complete all necessary inspections at no
additional cost to the CITY prior to the completion of field activities. For structures
located and access provided after completion of field services, a remobilization charge
will be assessed. All new access structures located will be properly identified on City
sewer atlas maps and provided to the CITY. .
-~ The CITY will supply a list of manholes, identified on a map, which will not be located
I
or inspected by ADS. This list will be submitted prior to start up of field activities. ADS
will not locate, inspect, and include in the final report these structures. Therefore, the
identified structures will not be counted for payment.
Visual inspections will be conducted on all incoming and outgoing pipes of the access
structures inspected. This inspection will also include private service laterals that enter
into the access structure. The information gathered will be recorded on standard field
inspection forms. Photographic images will be taken of line segments from inside the
access structure, showing cracked pipe; offset joints greater than 1 "; partially or fully
collapsed pipe; or obstructions such as roots, debris, or grease.
D. Smoke Testing .
ADS will conduct smoke testing in Sub-basin 6 which consists of approximately 83,000
linear feet (Lf.). Testing will be accomplished by a two-person crew using a single
4,000 cfm blower and consecutive three-minute non-toxic smoke bombs. Smoke
testing will be limited to not more than four line segments or 600 linear feet, whichever
is less, per setup except where access dictates different setup procedures. ADS will
utilize standard field forms to record all defect data. A minimum of two measurements
to a stationary object will be recorded and sketched for each defect. Video will be
! taken and provided to the CITY. Photographi~ images will be taken for each defect.
ADS/CITY will be jointly responsible for daily coordination with local authorities and will
jointly respond to all telephone calls by building owners or occupants during all active
phases of smoke testing. ADS/CITY will jointly document all follow-up meetings with
property owners or occupants who reported entrance of smoke into their property.
During the smoke testing phase it will be necessary to communicate with the fire
department. The location of crews will be communicated to the fire department each
day prior to commencing the tests. Smoke testing "Notice to Residents" will be
distributed prior to testing.
E. Flow Isolation
In those areas determined to have possible excessive infiltration, "micro-systems" from
1,000 to 2,500 feet will be delineated. Infiltration will then be measured at micro-
G: \0 AL LAS\CO NTRA C lìS MAR C b6. DOC April 11. 1997
