ORDINANCE 1997- 46 <br />11;,1 :::;:¡ ï:: Q <br />, <::::I: ..» <br />C ~Z; <br /> AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE <br /> CITY TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 4, 1997 FOR THE PURPOSE <br /> OF SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS A PROPOSITION REGARDING <br /> COLLECTIVE BARGAINING FOR POLICE OFFICERS; <br /> ESTABLISHING EARLY VOTING LOCATIONS AND POLLING <br /> PLACES FOR THIS ELECTION; MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE <br /> CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> SECTION 1. A special election is ordered to be held by the City of San Marcos <br />(City), at the various polling places and election precincts within the corporate limits of the <br />City, as hereinafter designated, on the 4th day of November, 1997, from the hours of 7:00 <br />a.m. to 7:00 p.m., at which election the following measure will be submitted to the <br />qualified voters of the City in accordance with Section 174.051(c) of the Texas Local <br />Government Code and other applicable laws: <br /> MEASURE NO. ONE <br /> SHALL THE STATE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING LAW BE ADOPTED FOR CITY <br />POLICE OFFICERS? <br /> SECTION 1.1 The ballot for the November 4, 1997 Special City election will have <br />the measure described in Section 1 above stated as a proposition as follows: <br /> PROPOSITION NO. ONE <br /> <br />FOR/AGAINST: The adoption of the state law applicable to police officers that <br /> establishes collective bargaining if a majority of the affected <br /> employees favor representation by an employees association, <br /> preserves the prohibition against strikes and lockouts, and <br /> provides penalties for strikes and lockouts. <br /> SECTION 2. The ballot for the City election will conform to the requirements of the <br />Texas Election Code. <br /> SECTION 3. The election precincts for the City election shall be substantially the <br />same precincts as those Hays County Election Precincts which are within the corporate <br />limits of the City, and for the County election, all those Election Precincts which are within <br />the boundaries of Hays County. <br /> SECTION 4. The Election precincts and polling places for the City for the Special <br />City election shall be as follows: <br /> Precinct # Polling Place <br /> <br /> 111/112 Guadalupe Hall <br /> Corner of Churchill and Roosevelt <br /> 113 Hays County Election Administrator's Office <br /> 401-C Broadway Street <br /> 114 Allenwood Homes <br /> 1201 Thorpe Lane <br />
