Ms. Colgin stated <br /> she felt there is a need for a new Senior Citizen's Center, and suggested that the City donate the <br /> Old First Christian Church for this purpose. <br /> Ramona Rodriguez, resident at 533 Hull St_, spoke during the public hearing. Ms. Rodriguez <br /> stated that there is a need for a new Senior Citizen's Center. Ms- Rodriguez also noted that there <br /> - is a need for housing as well as sidewalk repair in the Victory Gardens area. <br /> Ralph Gonzales, resident at 410 Broadway, spoke during the public hearing. Mr, Gonzales <br /> stated that there is a need for a new Senior Citizen's Center, <br /> Charlotte Evans, representative of Homespun, spoke during the public hearing. Ms. Evans <br /> stated that Homespun aids disabled children ages 0-3- Ms. Evans stated that Homespun is <br /> requesting any assistance that might be available in order to renovate there present facilities. <br /> Renovations would allow a greater number of children to be aided. <br /> Ollie Giles, representative of the Dunbar Neighborhood, spoke during the public hearing. Ms. <br /> Giles noted that the Dunbar Neighborhood is in need of the following: sidewalk repairs, drainage <br /> repairs/corrections, slum/blight clean-up (noted that the creek in this area is being used as a <br /> dump), alley repair and affordable housing- ~ <br /> Kyev Tatum, representative of the Texas Hill Country Branch of the NAACP, spoke during the <br /> public hearing. Mr. Tatum stated that he felt there is a need for program opportunities for Senior <br /> Citizens and the youth of San Marcos. Mr. Tatum stated that the Dunbar and Victory Garden <br /> areas are in need of clean-up and repair. <br /> Pastor Dennis Lockhart, a San Marcos resident, spoke during the public hearing. Rev. Lockhart <br /> commented on the need for programs to link children with mentors, as well as facilities to house <br /> these programs. <br /> Ophelia Vasquez-Vilo, a San Marcos resident, spoke during the public hearing, Ms. Vasquez- <br /> Vilo stated that there is a need for a new Senior Citizen's Center. <br /> The following are comments that were submitted by citizens on a supplied comment form. None <br /> of these citizens chose to voice their comments during the public hearing. <br /> Rafaila Ramierez, a resident at 209 Parker Dr., noted that there is a need for a new Senior <br /> Citizen's Center on the southside. Ms, Ramierez also noted the need for housing and a new child <br /> care facility in the southside area, <br /> Joe Montelongo, resident at 70 1 ~1LK Dr., noted that there is a need for a new Senior Citizen's <br /> Center on the southside- :iVfr. Montelongo also noted the need for housing and a new child care <br /> facility in the southside area. <br />
