6z:r
The CITY will supply a list of manholes, identmed on a map, which will not be located
or inspected by ADS. This list will be submitted prior to start up of field activities. ADS
will not locate, inspect, and include in the final report these structures. Therefore, the
identified structures will not be counted for payment.
Visual inspections will be conducted on all incoming and outgoing pipes of the access
structures inspected. This inspection will also include private service laterals that enter
into the access structure. The information gathered will be recorded on standard field
--- inspection forms. Photographic images (Polaroids are acceptable) will be taken of line
segments from inside the access structure, showing cracked pipe; offset joints greater
than 1"; partially or fully collapsed pipe; or obstructions such as roots, debris, or
grease. Each photograph will be properly annotated and attached to the field form.
D. Smoke Testing
ADS will conduct smoke testing in Sub-basin 10 which consists of approximately
41,000 linear feet (Lf.). Testing will be accomplished by a two-person crew using a
single 4,000 cfm blower and consecutive three-minute non-toxic smoke bombs. Smoke
testing will be limited to not more than four line segments or 600 linear feet, whichever
is less, per setup except where access dictates different setup procedures. ADS will
utilize standard field forms to record all defect data. A minimum of two measurements
to a stationary object will be recorded and sketched for each defect. Still photographs
will be taken for each defect and properly annotated and attached to the respective
field form. ADS/CITY will be jointly responsible for daily coordination with local
authorities and will jointly respond to all telephone calls by building owners or
occupants during all active phases of smoke testing. ADS/CITY will jointly document all
follow-up meetings with property owners or occupants who reported entrance of smoke
into their property.
During the smoke testing phase it will be necessary to communicate with the fire
department. The location of crews will be communicated to the fire department each
day prior to commencing the tests. Smoke testing "Notice to Residents" will be
distributed prior to testing.
E. Flow Isolation
In those areas determined to have possible excessive infiltration, "micro-sys~ems" from
1,000 to 2,500 feet shall be delineated. Infiltration will then be measured at micro-
system key manholes by taking instantaneous flow measurements during the early
morning hours. These measurements will be correlated with continuous flow
monitoring results. Instantaneous flow measurements will be obtained using hand
weirs as follows:
G:\DALLAS\CO NTRA CT\SANMAR c. 0 oc June 25, 1996
