<br /> '~I+- <br /> - <br /> Subsurface Investigations <br /> 1.1.5 In soils, foundation, groundwater, and other subsurface investigations determined <br /> by ENGINEER to be appropriate for the Project, the ENGINEER will use its best <br /> professional efforts to propose testing techniques, test points and sample intervals so as <br /> to minimize the uncertainties of such investigations. ENGINEER and CITY a~knowledge <br /> however, that the actual characteristics may vary between test points and sample intervals <br /> and at locations other than where investigations have been made, and ENGINEER does <br /> not warrant that changed or unanticipated underground conditions will not occur that could <br /> affect the total Project cost and/or execution. <br /> Opinions of Probable Cost. Financial Considerations. and Schedules <br /> 1.1.6 ENGINEER's opinions of probable Project costs and of Project schedules will be <br /> made on the basis of experience and qualifications as a professional engineer. <br /> ENGINEER does not guarantee that proposal, bids, or actual Project costs will not vary <br /> from ENGINEER's cost estimates or that actual schedules will not vary from ENGINEER's <br /> projected schedules. <br /> 1.1.7 The ENGINEER will give prompt written Notice to the CITY whenever the <br /> ENGINEER observes or becomes aware of any development that affects the scope or <br /> timing of the ENGINEER's services or of any defect in the work of the ENGINEER or <br /> construction contractors. <br /> 1.2 BASIC SERVICES - PRELIMINARY DESIGN <br /> The ENGINEER will perform all of the Basic Services described in this Section 1.2, which <br /> include normal, structural, mechanical, civil and electrical engineering services as well as <br /> architectural services for the Project, which consists generally of a raw water intake <br /> structure and pump station located on the San Marcos River; raw water pipeline; 6 MGD <br /> water treatment plant, clea rwe II , high service pump station; and treated water transmission <br /> pipeline. <br /> 1.2.1 Consult with CITY and the Program Manager: (1) to review the scope of work, (2) <br /> to verify the CITY's requirements for the Project, and (3) to review available data. <br /> 1.2.2 Advise CITY as to the necessity of CITY's providing or obtaining data or services <br /> from others, and assist the CITY in connection with any such services. <br /> Project Management <br /> 1.2.3 Provide overall supervision of the Project necessary to complete the appropriate <br /> 2 <br />
