<br /> ¡qjJ <br /> THE ALARM <br /> The San Marcos Fire Department responded to a structure <br /> fire at 215 W. San Antonio Field St. on Monday, 06:14, 04- <br /> 25-94. The call was received by fire telephone by dispatcher <br /> Valorie Krishke. Reporting party, Will iam Stevens" 212 W. <br /> San Antonio, stated he heard a loud explosion type sound and <br />i sa,,- smo ke coming from the building next door. Stevens stated <br />, he observed three Hispanic males 8-13 yrs. old riding bikes <br /> from the scene. <br /> THE FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> The first Truck Company arrived on the scene within <br /> four minutes to find a two story commercial structure <br /> parti'ally involved. Truck one attacked with tank water on <br /> board based on scene report. At the time of the alarm, all <br /> units were in station. Upon arrival, Captain Don Allen <br /> assumed command. In all, five units responded from the fire <br /> department with a total manpower count of nineteen <br /> firefighters. Mutual was not called for this scene for <br /> investigative purposes. As of this report, no fire <br /> department injuries have been reported. . <br /> The first truck company on the scene supplied water and <br /> began protecting exposures with two 1-3/4 rack line. Truck <br /> one personnel began offensive attack from the interior of <br /> the structure. Within two minutes, Engine 4 arrived and <br /> staged by the hydrant and provided additional manpower. <br /> Engine 2 remained out of service. Rescue one arrived at <br /> 06:25 with additional air supply. <br /> The structure went to defensive attack at 18:31 and <br /> loss stopped at 09: 12. Crews from Engine 4 made entry into <br /> the second floor garage side door of the structure and used <br /> positive flow ventilation. <br /> The fire scene was turned over to Fire Marshal at 11:24 <br /> by Captain Todd Derkacz. <br /> THE STRUCTURE <br /> The structure, a vacant commercial structure is located <br /> at 215 W. San Antonio, San Marcos, Hays County, Texas. The <br /> structure is situated on lot # 9, block 18 Original Town S <br /> Subdivision, GEO # 90206952. <br /> The structure is a two story, commercial occupancy, <br /> with a metal warehouse storage facility attached. This <br /> commercial unit was built approx. 40 yrs. ago. The structure <br /> is located in the center of a three acre lot facing North. <br /> The building was made of a cinderblock type <br /> construction with a standard corrugated tin roof. The walls <br /> on the exterior of the building were outlined with numerous <br /> windows with each end of the structure containing a parapate <br /> wall.
