Identification of Essential Records. <br />Each department is to identify essential records necessary to ensure maximum availability <br />of the records in order to re-establish operations quickly, with minimum disruption and expense. <br />The records management officer and department head, of each city department, will establish a <br />written disaster plan that will fulfill the basic objectives of the program. <br />Sec. 7.02. Procedures. <br />(a) Backup Procedures for Personal Computers* - Department schedules will be <br />created for the weekly backup of data and programs. Diskettes are to be picked up and delivered <br />to the records management office. Codes necessary to access data will be confidentially retained <br />by the Dire.c~or ofInformation Services. . <br />(b) Software Programs for Personal Computers - Software program diskettes and <br />certificates should be given to the Media Information Services or records management officer. <br />The diskettes will be securely stored in Records Center along with the department's data <br />diskettes. <br />(c) EssentiaVVital Records List - Compile a written list of these records. In an <br />efficient manner, reproduce these records for off site storage in the Records Center.
