<br /> f-¡qðA <br /> WILTEL <br /> The air conditioning provided must be capable of handling the heat produced by <br /> the system, as well as the additional heat produced by equipment room personnel, <br /> lighting, and the heat input of external walls, windows, floors and ceilings <br /> enclosing the room. Heat dissipation of a system is estimated in BTU/hr. The <br /> amount of air conditioning required can be estimated at a rate of one u.s. ton <br /> of refrigeration for every 12,000 BTU/hr of heat generated by the equipment and <br /> equipment room personnel, plus one ton for each 500 square feet of floor space. <br /> Each person in the equipment room generates 600 BTU/hr. These guidelines should <br /> be used along with the following table when estimating air conditioning require- <br /> ments. Exact requirements should be determined by a qualified air conditioning <br /> engineer. <br /> BTU Output for this configuration is 6147 BTU's. <br /> Tons of Air Conditioning needed .512 <br /> (BTU's + 12,000) <br /> POWER AND GROUNDING DETAILS <br /> (To be used by electrician) <br /> POWER AND GROUNDING <br /> The Meridian 1 is extremely sensitive to transient voltages and noise in the <br /> ground system. Damage to the logic devices, which may not be initially apparent, <br /> may show up later depending on the initial stress placed on the circuitry. <br /> Therefore, it is important that the following ground recommendations are closely <br /> followed: <br /> 1.0 The system ground wire from the Meridian 1 to the building ground should <br /> be short as possible to ensure a low impedance to ground. <br /> 1.1 The copper ground wire must be insulated and a minimum of six (6) AWG. <br /> Bare ground wire may be used only when installed in a nonmetallic conduit. <br /> The ground wire is connected to the building ground. <br /> 1.2 The building ground is defined as a connection to: <br /> i . an electrical copper building ground riser (750 MCM minimum) <br /> I <br /> I municipal metallic water pipe with the connection made the street <br /> . a on <br /> side of the water meter or valve <br /> - a driven or mat ground. <br /> NOTE: The connection to the building ground and any intermediate <br /> connections must use two fastening devices and be taped and tagged to <br /> ensure a permanent connection. <br /> 1.3 Where the above types of ground are not available and cannot be provided, <br /> Gus tamer: @ 8) <br /> Revised 9/24/94 Page 8 of 10 Wi1Te1: ~ <br />
