Additional ground rods are required if the .earth is sandy or <br /> has a low water table. When using ground rod(s), connect a wire of not <br /> less than six (6) AWG between the ground rod(s) and the Multiground <br /> Neutral (MGN) of the power system. The Meridian 1 ground should be <br /> connected at this point. <br /> (b) The sprinkler system where an underground pipe or storage tank is evident. <br /> The pipe should be connected with a wire not less than six (6)' AWG to the <br /> MGN of the power system. The Meridian 1 ground should be connected at <br /> this point. <br /> (c) A private water pipe system if more than 10 ft. (3, 000 mm) of metallic <br /> pipe is buried in earth. The pipe should be connected with a wire not <br /> less than six (6) AWG to the MGN of the power system. The Meridian 1 <br /> ground should be connected at this point. <br /> (d) An insulated copper ground riser (I/O AWG minimum) used exclusively tor <br /> the Meridian 1. At the floor where the Meridian 1 is located, the system <br /> ground, AC equipment ground and foreign grounds (building steel, etc.,) <br /> must be connected to the ground riser to create a single point ground. <br /> NOTE: In multistoried buildings when an electrical copper building ground <br /> riser (750 MCM minimum) is unavailable, it is preferable to install the <br /> Meridian 1 in the basement close to a ground source. <br /> WARNING: Failure to follow these recommendations could result in an <br /> installation that is: <br /> < <br /> - unsafe for personnel working on or using the equipment <br /> - not protected from lightning or power transients <br /> - subject to service interruption. <br /> 1.4 Do NOT use as a ground source: <br /> - cable sheaths or conduit <br /> - the neutral terminal of the AC panel <br /> - any conductor normally carrying current towards a ground source <br /> - any electrical grounds that could be changed due to renovations. <br /> 2.0 Conductors to the panel from the source must be either: <br /> A. 208Y/120 5 wire system <br /> (3 hots, 1 neutral, 1 ground) <br /> or <br /> B. 120/240 4 wire system <br /> (2 hots, 1 neutral, 1 ground) <br /> Note: Ref. Product Bulletin 83624 rev. 2. All conductors must be the <br /> same size. <br /> 2.1 Isolated ground receptacle wiring requirements: <br /> A.
