Regular Meeting June 5, 2007 Page 3 <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the Staff Report. Mr. O'Leary stated he did not <br />have a Staff Report at this time. <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the City Council Report. 1) Mayor Narvaiz stated <br />the pride of the community stood out in support of Cpl. Michael Davis and <br />his family. She thanked everyone who was involved in the Memorial <br />Ceremony. She stated she could not have been prouder at a sadder moment. <br />She also asked that the citizens keep the family of Private Fouty in their <br />prayers. She stated he is one of the three soldiers missing in action. 2) <br />Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended a send off on June 1, 2007 for 38 San <br />Marcos residents who were deployed to Iraq. 3) Mayor Narvaiz stated she <br />attended the Skate Park Opening on June 2, 2007. She stated the Gardco, <br />corporate partner, announced they would be donating the lights for the <br />Skate Park. She congratulated everyone who was involved in raising funds <br />and putting the money in place. 4) Mayor Narvaiz stated she provided a <br />copy of a Resolution from the San Marcos School Board supporting some road <br />projects. 5) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended Evasion Central Texas award <br />ceremony and she congratulated everyone who received an award. 6) Mayor <br />Narvaiz thanked Secretary of State Roger Williams for speaking at the <br />Global Trade Luncheon. 7) Mayor Narvaiz stated she attended the Police <br />Department Awards Ceremony and she acknowledged the Police Officers <br />Association for their hard work. 8) Donovan Knight thanked Kim Porterfield <br />and her Staff for organizing the Pack -It -Up and Pass -It -On Project, which <br />will be held in the LBJ Ballroom. He stated anyone wishing to volunteer <br />can contact Kim Porterfield at Texas State University. 10) Mr. Thomaides <br />stated he will be attending a NLC Policy Conference regarding University <br />Communities. He stated he is hoping to learn how some of the other <br />University's around the country partner with their city. 11) Mr. Thomaides <br />stated the Austin /San Antonio Commuter Rail District spent a lot of time at <br />the Legislative Sessions. He stated he was disappointed that the <br />Legislature did not do a lot for the Commuter Rail this year. He stated he <br />will continue to work on this project and he feels the citizens need to get <br />involved. 13) Mr. Thomaides stated he attended the Climate Change <br />Discussion in Austin, which will be discussed tonight. 14) Mr. Thomaides <br />congratulated the kids and their parents who worked so hard on the Skate <br />Park. 15) Mr. Bose stated he attended community relation luncheon at Gary <br />on May 16, 2007. He stated Gary Job Corp is trying to increase enrollment <br />and they want to increase their vocational fields. 16) Mr. Bose stated he <br />also attended the World Trade Luncheon. He stated after listening to the <br />Secretary of State, he feels San Marcos is heading in the right direction <br />and he feels San Marcos will receive a big prospect in the future. 17) Mr. <br />Bose stated on May 26, 2007 he attended the American Legion Ceremony. 18) <br />Mr. Bose stated on May 28, 2007, he attended the Memorial Service at the <br />Hays County Memorial. 19) Mr. Guerrero stated his condolences to the Davis <br />families. 20) Mr. Guerrero congratulated the seniors who graduated in the <br />past few weeks. He stated he looks forward to their accomplishments. 21) <br />Ms. Robertson thanked the Main Street Advisory Board for their hard work <br />
