<br /> f L/;V <br /> Commission for Women <br /> Purpose <br /> <br /> To serve as an advisory board to the City Council and City Manager concerning the needs and <br /> problems of women in the San Marcos area and to recommend programs to alleviate any <br /> inequities that confront women in social, economic, and vocational pursuits. <br /> Membership <br /> <br /> This board is composed of nine persons committed to achieve equal rights and responsibilities <br /> for women. Two members may be non residents of the City. The remaining seven must be <br /> City Residents. <br /> , . <br /> Tvpical Duties <br /> <br /> 8 Advise and recommend City Council and City Manager on the needs and programs of <br /> women in the San Marcos area. <br /> 8 Coordinate and act as a clearinghouse for activities and informatioh relating to the <br /> status of women in San Marcos. <br /> 8 Research women's legal rights. <br /> 8 Review area services available to women to enable them to enhance all aspects of job, <br /> community and home life. Work with private, commercial and voluntary agencies for <br /> needed services. <br /> 8 Promote awareness and maintain a human resource file of women's organizations. <br /> Staff Support <br /> <br /> Secretary to the City Secretary <br /> Time Commitment <br /> Members serve a two year term.
