<br /> ILffll\ <br /> Commission for Minorities <br /> Purpose <br /> <br /> To pursue a positive course of action to achieve and assure equal rights and responsibilities for <br /> all minorities. <br /> Membership <br /> <br /> This commission is composed of seven members. Six members must live within the San <br /> Marcos city limits and one may live in the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction. <br /> Tvpical Duties <br /> <br /> 8 Serve as an advisory body to the City Council and the City Manager concerning needs <br /> and problems of minorities in San Marcos area. <br /> 8 Recommend programs designed to alleviate any inequities that confront minorities in <br /> their social, economic and vocational pursuits. <br /> ~ <br /> 8 Accumulate infonnation concerning instances of actual discrimination and refer <br /> infonnation to appropriate agencies. <br /> 8 Research and educate the public and private sectors in all areas of minority rights and <br /> opportunities. <br /> Staff Support <br /> <br /> Senior Paralegal <br /> Time Commitment <br /> The Minority Commission meets every other month.
