Proposal for Professional Engineering Services
Sessom Creek Erosion Remediation Evaluation
segments, erosion at tributary confluences and storm drain outfalls, and excessive bank
erosion and scour.
Stream Erosion Assessment — RPS Espey will document erosion issues along Sessom Creek
at discrete locations up to Peachtree Street as identified in the field and rank them based on
size and severity. Severity will include consideration of the threat to properties, structures,
municipal infrastructure and potential threat to water quality and habitat. RPS Espey will
also determine approximate limits of existing right of way and easements at each location.
RPS Espey will review the ranking with the City staff and may adjust the ranking based on
their input. RPS Espey will also discuss the likely options for remediation (e. g. grade
control, slope toe protection, slope reinforcement, etc.).
3. Preliminary Design and Cost Estimating - RPS Espey will prepare conceptual designs of
remediation measures (using natural channel designs when possible) and associated cost
estimates for the top 12 discrete sites. This task will include consideration of
constructability, access, property acquisition, etc. It will also include an estimate of the
construction duration and permit requirements at each site.
4. Report and Presentation — RPS Espey will prepare a report that includes the information
collected as part of this project, documents the ranking process and results and summarizes
the preliminary designs that can be used for future budgeting and planning purposes as part
of the City's CIP.
DELIVERABLES
The following deliverables are included within this scope of services:
1. Technical memorandum which includes initial assessment and ranking of erosion areas.
2. Report which includes preliminary design and cost estimate for up to 12 discrete remediation
sites.
3. Presentation of the report at a staff meeting.
Page 3 of 7 September 18, 2012
Revised October 9, 2012
