John Gleason LLC
JohnGleasonRLA @Gmail.com
Proposal for Professional Engineering Services
Sessom Creek Erosion Remediation Evaluation
ATTACHMENT A.1
October 5, 2012
Revised October 9, 2012
Re: Proposal for Professional Landscape Architectural Services
City of San Marcos, Texas - Sessom Creek Erosion Remediation Evaluation
This proposal is in regards to landscape architectural services in association with the Sessom
Creek Remediation Evaluation. I submit this proposal with enthusiasm for the project and
commitment to its success. I propose to provide the following services.
1) Site visit — Conduct site visit(s) in concert with RPS Espey and document the erosion
conditions at discrete locations including photographs, field notes and basic measurements (e.
g. width, depth and height). Post visit documentation and collaboration with RPS Espey.
Estimated level of effort: 26 hours
2) Ranking of sites and identification of remediation measures — Based on the conditions
noted in the field, assist RPS Espey with prioritization of erosion areas and discuss likely
solutions for remediation as identified by RPS Espey. Provide input regarding restoration
methods including natural channel designs versus traditional structural methods (i. e. concrete,
etc.). For example, site constraints such as lighting limitations, soil condition, steep grades,
confined spaces, etc. might not allow for a natural channel design and may warrant a structural
solution in order to address an immediate need at a particular location. Estimated level of
effort: 60 hours
3) Review of Preliminary Design and Cost Estimates — Review the final ranking /prioritization,
the concept of the selected design methods, cost estimates and landscape architecture
elements for each of the (approximately12) sites. Provide red -lines (if necessary) and a
summary of additional things that may need to be considered in final design for each location.
Estimated level of effort: 28 hours
At a billing rate of $120 /hour, the estimated fee is $13,680. Sessom Creek has been heavily
impacted and could use some improvement. I'm looking forward to working together on the
project.
Page 4 of 7 September 18, 2012
Revised October 9, 2012
