That Sections 21-38 and 21-43 of the San Marcos Code of <br />~< Ordinances are amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 21-38 Compensation <br /> <br />Special assignment field training officers and the special assignment <br />i <br />field training officer coordinator shall be compensated at a rate set by <br />city council in addition to regular pay for performance of special <br />assignment services duty under this division. The assignment pay <br />rate is the same regardless of the number of trainees per shift or the <br />number of field training officers concurrently performing special <br />assignment services duty. Service under this division for periods of <br />less than a month shall be compensated on a prorata basis. <br /> <br />Sec. 21-43. Compensation. <br /> <br />Designated police K-9 handlers shall be compensated at a rate set by <br />city council in addition to regular pay for performance of special <br />assignment services duty under this division. Service under this <br />division for periods of less than a month shall be compensated on a <br />prorata basis. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. That Article II, Police Department, of Chapter 21 Public Safety, of the <br />San Marcos Code of Ordinances is amended by adding a Division 7 to read as follows: <br /> <br />DIVISION 7. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT SERVICES-CRIMINAL <br />INVESTIGATORS <br /> <br />Sec. 21-45.1. Purposes. <br /> <br />The purposes of this division are: <br /> <br />(1) to create and implement an effective selection, <br />assignment and incentive program for police officers <br />who perform criminal investigations; <br /> <br />(2) to distribute services based on the needs and best <br />interests of the police department; and <br /> <br />(3) to provide a uniform rate of pay for performance of <br />specialized services. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />-2- <br />
