<br /> .. if/ß <br /> INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND <br /> - <br /> The Gang Task Force was fonned after the San Marcos CISD Board of Trustees <br /> approved recommendations from the administration on actions that included the <br /> creation of a community-based task force, stricter discipline actions against gang <br /> members, and the addition of district policy to forbid gang activity on campuses and gang <br /> symbols on clothing. <br /> San Marcos CISD administrators had been meeting to discuss and document the youth <br /> violence and gang activity. Goals were to review, develop, and refrne school policies in <br /> relation to gangs, drug paraphernalia, and alcohol-related offenses. <br /> After proposed policy changes were recommended and implemented with approval of the <br /> school board, it was d~termined by the group that its membership need to be expanded to <br /> achieve community-wide representation, in development of a community-wide plan. <br /> . <br /> Current members, who meet once a month, include: <br /> .
