15()ê ø
-
'Wastewater System
The City of San Marcos currently owns and operates one wastewater treatment facility with a present combined pennitted
capacity of 6.25 MGD. The system consists of approximately 85 miles of collection lines with 42 life stations. After treatment,
wastewater is returned to the San Marcos River.
Recent improvements increased the system capacity to serve a projected population of ~6,000 in the year 2000.
Storm water is collected in an entirely separate gravity feed storm sewer system and is completely segregated from the sanitary
sewer system. The storm sewer system is operated and maintained by the City's Department of Public Works.
Maintenance and inspection of the City's Wastewater System is accomplished by maintenance personnel employed by the City's
Water and Wastewater Department.
Average Daily Sewage Flow
Avera,ge Daily
Fiscal Use in
Year Gallons (OOO's)
1983 3,125
1984 3,344
1985 3,692
1986 3,677
1987 4,280
1988 3,898
1989 3,495
1990 3,191
1991 4,305
1992 5,043
Monthly Wastewater Rates (Effective 10-1-92) ..
Based on water consumption.
Residential:
Gallons Rate
First 2,000 $ 6.89 (Minimum)
Next 6,000 $ 1.85 per 1,000 gallons
Over 8,000 $17.99 (Maximum)
,
, Commercial:
Gallons Rate
First 2,000 , $ 6.89 (Minimum)
Over 2,000 $ 1.85 per 1,000 gallons
A - 14
~
1
