Dr. Geoff Tumlin led the Council in a goal setting session. The council was provided updates <br />on current goals of Sound Finances, Customer Friendly Processes, Big Picture Infrastructure, <br />and Protect and Defend the San Marcos River and Natural Environment from Staff. The <br />Council developed the following goals for 2013 -2014: <br />I) Economic Vitality and Responsible Finances <br />1) Job Creation <br />2) Workforce Development <br />3) Diversify Tax base <br />4) Financial Stewardship <br />5) Infrastructure <br />i. airport <br />ii. roadways <br />iii. drainage <br />iv. water /wastewater <br />6) Streamline the Development Process <br />II) Quality of Life and Place <br />1) Health, Education and Families <br />2) Public Services and Facilities <br />i. Public Safety and Public Facilities <br />3) Environment, Parks and Resource Protection <br />4) Neighborhoods and Housing <br />5) Safe and Convenient Transportation Options <br />III) Enhance the Image of San Marcos <br />1) Gateway and Curb Appeal <br />2) Code Enforcement <br />3) Support Educational Excellence <br />4) River <br />4. Question and Answer Session with Press and Public <br />None <br />22.Adiournment <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Council Member Thomason and a second by Council <br />Member Porterfield, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to adjourn the <br />workshop of the San Marcos City Council at 3:00 p.m. on January 11, 2013. The motion carried. <br />
