<br />- <br />- J?~F <br />." . <br /> TMLP LI TATEMENT <br /> NLC BOARD NOl\flNATION PROCESS <br />PROCESS: <br /> 8 the TML Board may endorse candidates for NLC Board positions; <br /> 8 Nlcilldividual seeking endorsement by the TML Board for a position on the <br /> Board should communicate such illterest ill writill~ to the Texas <br /> Municipal Lea~e staff no later than two weeks prior to the all TML Board <br /> meeting, at which the Board will make its endorsements; <br /> 8 the TML Board may endorse candidates who have not expressed illterest ill <br /> writing; <br /> 8 the TML Board will not endorse more than three candidates ill anyone year <br /> and will not endorse more than one candidate from a single city; <br /> 8 no TML member may serve concurrently on the NLC Board and an NLC <br /> Policy or Steering Committee; <br /> 8 the TML Board will not endorse a candidate having served more than two, <br /> two-year terms on the NLC Board, unless such candidate is ill line of <br /> succession as an officer; and . <br /> 8 the TML President may appoint a screening committee to review the <br /> qualifications of city OffiCIalS seeking TML endorsement, and that committee <br /> may consider all relevant factors which could affect the endorsements and <br /> the number of endorsements and shall report back to the TML Board. <br />C RITE RIA: <br /> 8 candidates for a city official position (as opposed to those Board positions <br /> reserved for state league directors) on, the NLC Board must have held an <br /> elected office for at least two years to gain TML Board endorsement; <br /> 8 candidates must represent an NLC direct member city to gain TML Board <br /> endorsement; and <br /> 8 candidates must have served on an NLC Steering or Policy Committee to <br /> gain TML Board endorsement. <br />RESPONSIBILITY: <br /> 8 TML encourages all Texas officials serving on the NLC Board to reflect the <br /> Erevailing values of the Texas Municipal League in considering <br /> ederaljmunicipal policy issues; <br /> 8 TML ur~es Texas officials serving on the NLC Board to maintain a positive <br /> record 0 attendance and participation; and <br /> 8 TML requests that those cities with a representative serving on the NLC <br /> Board make budgetary allowances for travel to all such Board meetings. <br />
