<br /> , <br />- ?5"rr <br />" . . <br />. <br />- TML POLICY STATEMENT <br /> NLC COMMITTEE APPOINTMENT PROCESS <br />PROCESS: <br /> 8 any individual or city official interested in nominating an individual for NLC <br /> committee membership should communicate such interest in writing to the <br />.-- Texas Municipal League staff no later than December 15* of each year; <br /> 8 TML shall seek ~dge from NLC that no Texas city officials shall be <br /> appointed to any committee without the recommendation of the Texas <br /> Municipal League; <br /> 8 Policy Committee appointments shall be made annually by the TML <br /> President; <br /> 8 Steering Committee appointments shall be made annually by the chair of <br /> each Steering Committee, based on recommendations by the State League <br /> President; and <br /> 8 no TML member may serve concurrently on the NLC Board and an NLC <br /> Policy or Steering committee. <br />CRITERIA: . <br /> 8 candidates for committee membership must hold an elected office; <br /> 8 candidates for committee membership must represent an NLC direct <br /> member city; and <br /> 8 for candidates for Policy Committee membership, preference may be~n <br /> to officials who currently or previously have served on one of 's <br /> legislative policy committees or the TML Board. <br /> , <br />RESPONSIBILI1Y: <br /> 8 TML encourages all Texas officials serving on NLC committees to reflect the <br /> Erevailing values of the Texas Municipal League in considering <br /> ederaljmunicipal policy issues; <br /> 8 TML urges Texas officials serving on NLC committees to maintain a positive <br /> record of attendance and participation; and <br /> . TML requests that those cities with a representative serving on an NLC <br /> committee make budgetary allowances for travel to all such committee <br /> meetings. <br />*Please make every effort to communicate in writin2 no later than December 8. <br />
