'0- .~ r :ï--' , t:.: <br /> ::"....~'~.,...¡t',.,- <br /> VIC::: ;--'.::,:::.3!DENT <br /> T~is agreement, dated 22 May 1992, is between the City of San <br /> Marcos ("City") and Southwest Texas State University ("SWT"). <br /> 1. Background <br /> 1.01 The City has determined that a program of professional <br /> -" services to maintain the San Marcos River would be in the public <br /> interest and help free the river from trash, sediments, and <br /> unnecessary bogs of vegetation and clippings. The program would <br /> also provide a constant environment for aquatic life. <br /> 1.02 SWT's Department of Aquatic Biology has the professional <br /> services to undertake this program and to perform the services <br /> described in this agreement. . <br /> 2. Responsibilities <br /> 2.01 SWT, in coordination with the City's Parks and Recreation <br /> Department, will perform stewardship and maintenance services for <br /> the San Marcos River from its headwaters to the IH-35 bridge. <br /> Specifically, SWT will: <br /> 1 . appoint a steward and engage student workers to provide <br /> river stewardship and maintenance services. The steward will <br /> coordinate SWT's activities under this agreement, supervise student <br /> employees, and conduct educational programs; <br /> 2. participate in the city-sponsored clean-up of the river; <br /> 3. conduct graduate level courses dealing with the ecology of <br /> the river; <br />
