Sandwich Board <br />A sandwich board is a portable sign designed in an A -frame or other fashion, and having back - <br />to -back sign faces. <br />28. Design the sandwich board to be durable and have a stable base. <br />Wall Sign <br />A wall sign is any sign attached parallel to, but within 18 inches of a wall of a building including <br />individual letters, cabinet signs, or signs painted on the surface of a wall. <br />30. Place a wall sign to be flat against the building facade. <br />31. Place wall signs to integrate with and not obscure building details and elements. <br />Directory Sign <br />A tenant panel or directory sign displays the tenant name and location for a building containing <br />multiple tenants. <br />32. Use a directory sign to consolidate small individual signs on a larger building. <br />33. Locate a directory sign at the street level entrance to upper floor businesses or <br />on facades facing entrances to alleys, rear lanes and parking lots for business <br />wayfinding purposes. <br />Pole and Monument Signs <br />A monument sign is a sign that is erected on a solid base placed directly on the ground and <br />constructed of a solid material. A pole mounted sign is generally mounted on one or two simple <br />poles. <br />34. A pole or monument sign may be considered where it has been used traditionally <br />and the building or activity is set back from the street or public right -of -way. <br />35. A pole or monument sign may be considered on a historic property or within a <br />historic district when it is demonstrated that no other option is appropriate. <br />36. Design a pole or monument sign to be in character and proportion with its structure <br />and site. <br />37. Design a monument sign to incorporate a sturdy supporting base that is at least <br />75% of the width of the sign face at its widest point.
