LIGHTING GUIDELINES AND POLICIES <br />These guidelines and policies are applicable within the city limits of San Marcos. All light fixtures on <br />standard and alternative street and pedestrian lighting shall be the light emitting diode (LED) type. <br />For standard cobra head assemblies: <br />Cobra head type lights are approved for use in smart code transect T1 and as approved in special <br />districts (SD) and in non -smart code areas. Design and construction plans are the responsibility of the <br />developer. Light location and spacing shall be as specified in the City of San Marcos Land Development <br />Code and shall meet the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials ( AASHTO) <br />standards. <br />Plans shall be reviewed and approved for construction by the City of San Marcos prior to construction <br />permitting. <br />The developer shall furnish and install all conduit, junction boxes, foundations, poles, arms, and wiring to <br />the light fixture(s). San Marcos Electric Utility (SMEU) will furnish the fixture(s). A cost recovery fee, set at <br />the purchase price paid by SMEU shall be paid for each LED fixture. Within the SMEU service area, <br />SMEU will install the fixture(s). Outside the SMEU service area, the developer shall install the fixture(s). <br />SMEU will become the owner of the pole, mast arm, fixture, conduit, and wiring (entire lighting assembly) <br />upon acceptance of the improvement. Manufacturers' warranties for all materials in the assembly shall be <br />transferrable to the City of San Marcos. <br />For all lighting other than standard cobra head assemblies: <br />Design and construction plans are the responsibility of the developer. Spacing and height of the poles <br />and LED fixture configuration will be determined by the developer's photometric study to meet the <br />requirements of foot candle coverage listed within the AASHTO manual. <br />Plans shall be reviewed and approved for construction by the City of San Marcos prior to construction <br />permitting. <br />The developer shall furnish and install all conduit, junction boxes, foundations, poles, arms, wiring, and <br />the light fixture(s). <br />SMEU will become the owner of the entire lighting assembly upon acceptance of the improvement. <br />Manufacturers' warranties for all materials in the assembly shall be transferrable to the City of San <br />Marcos. <br />1 <br />
