<br /> AIRPORT MASTER PLAN UPDATE <br /> SAN MARCOS MUNICIPAL AIRPORT <br /> PROJECT NARRATIVE SAN MARCOS, TEXAS <br /> I. OBJECTIVES <br /> Based upon our understanding of needs and goals of the City of San Marcos, Texas and the requirements <br /> of the various Federal, State, and local agencies involved in the development of airport facilities, five <br /> specific objectives are to be achieved: <br /> 1. Determination of the extent, type, and nature of development required to satisfy <br /> future demand in the San Marcos area. <br /> 2. Determination of the future role San Marcos Mun~1 Airport is to play relevant <br /> to the Texas system of airports and the adjacent area, and feasibility of it's <br /> potential to fill that role. <br /> 3. Preparation of basic airport development concepts including an updated Airport <br /> Layout Plan (ALP) showing initial and future development. <br /> 4. Integration of San Marcos Municipal Airport aviation planning into local, regional, <br /> and state comprehensive planning, and to establish basic land use guidance for <br /> airport development. <br /> 5. Production of the documents in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration <br /> (FAA) Advisory Circulars (AC) 150/5070-6, Airport Master Plans, and 15015900-16, <br /> Planning Grant Program, FAA Order 1050.1D, and DOT Order 5050.4A, as <br /> appropriate. <br /> In order to achieve these objectives, a narrative description of the proposed effort has been prepared. This <br /> narrative is based upon basic guidance obtained from the Sponsor, the Federal Aviation Administration, <br /> and the Consultant's assessment of the project requirements. <br /> II. RESULTS OR BENEFITS EXPECTED <br /> It is anticipated that the results of the study effort described in this narrative will guide the development of <br /> air transportation facilities adequate to serve the San Marcos area over the next 20 years. <br /> The study proposed herein will accomplish the following: <br /> . Provide guidance in developing the existing San Marcos Municipal Airport ås an <br /> operationaUy suitable, economically viable public use facility. <br /> . Provide estimates of short, intermediate, and long-term development costs <br /> associated with the proposed airport improvements. <br /> - 1 - <br />
