<br />The City of San Marcos currently receives its total water supply from four existing wen. tapping the Edwards Aquifer. The
<br />System is served from two PresSU1'C planes, the upper pressure plane serving the area above the Ba1cones Escarpment with the
<br />lower pressure plan serving the remainder of the City. The City's Waterworks System is comprised of three pump stations,
<br />two ground storage tanks and three elevated storage tanks. The System has a peak pumping capability of9.5 million gallons
<br />per day ("MGD"), 9.36 million gallons of storage capacity and maintains an average presSU1'C of approximately 45 p.s.i.
<br />
<br />The city has a surface water supply from nearby Canyon Lake. In 1990 the citizens voted $11,830,000 in revenue bonds to
<br />construct a surface water treatment facility and associated transmission lines. In 1991, $850,000 of this authority was illSued
<br />to begin studies and preliminary engineering in the project. It is anticipated that the conatruction phase of the project will begin
<br />in 1993 and that surface water will be available to the system in
<br />
