<br /> 71 <br /> RESOLUTION 1992 - 69 R <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING THE TERMS AND <br /> CONDITIONS OF AN AGREEMENT BET1'lEEN THE CITY <br /> AND THE EDWARDS UNDERGROUND WATER DISTRICT FOR <br /> FINANCIAL PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY'S SURFACE <br /> WATER SUPPLY PROJECT: AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE AGREEMENT ON BEHALF OF <br /> THE CITY: AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, the Ci t Y and the Edwards Underground Water District <br /> (IIDistrict") recognize the importance of conserving the water of <br /> the Edwards Aquifer, and of developing alternate sources of water <br /> to conserve aquifer water: and <br /> WHEREAS, the City has contracted for purchase of water from <br /> Canyon Lake from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority, and has <br /> obtained voter approval for the sale of $8.5 million in bonds for <br /> the design and construction of a surface water treatment: and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City has applied for and obtained approval for <br /> financial participation by the District in the purchase of water <br /> from the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority in accordance with the <br /> terms of the agreement attached to this Resolution: now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS; <br /> TEXAS: <br /> PART 1. That the terms and conditions of the Agreement <br /> attached to this Resolution between the City and the Edwards <br /> Underground Water for financial participation in the City's <br /> surface water supply project are hereby approved. <br /> PART 2. That the City Manager, Larry D. Gilley is hereby <br /> authorized to execute this Agreement on behalf of the City. <br /> PART 3.
