Based on the same number of customers producing the same percentage of income and allowing for a similar amount of income to be produced by the landfill operation, the rates required to fund the current operation are: RESIDENTIAL $7.14 per month per customer Cor.1r.iERCI AL $56.14 average per month per account Since the current rates are considerably lower than these, the deficit must be funded by other General Fund revenues, i.e., taxations, revenue sharings, etc. The required rates shown would provide for an income to fund the current operation on a "Break-Even" basis. They do not in- clude the cost of upgrading services or acquiring and developing a land- fi 11 site. The current landfill operation at Camp Gary will soon be inadequate to meet the expanding needs of the City. If the current method of dispos- al is to be continued a new landfill site will have to be developed. Of the approximately two dozen sites investigated, it appears that the only suitable sites would be at Martindale or Uhland. As an alternate to the current method of operation, the possibilities of incineration and commercial contracting were also investigated. Incineration was eliminated as a viable option at this time due to the complexity of the process and the time required to develop the system. The following summary is a comparison of the cost involved in developing a collection and disposal system utilizing the Martindale and Uhland sites versus cóntracting with a commercial hauler to collect and dis- pose of the City's waste. The development of the .landfill options con- siders the City's participation both on a regional and independent basis. OPTION.
