9iPQ.
Section 3.30 - Demotion of Employee:
An employee who is demoted from one position to another position having a lower pay
range will be compensated at a rate within the lower range as determined by the department
director and the Director of Human Resources with approval of the City Manager. ALL
demotions require a reduction in salary unless otherwise approved by the City Manager.
Section 3.35 - Reclassification:
A job reclassification is the result of a job evaluation to determine the levels of skill,
efforts, responsibilities, and working conditions required by the job. Reclassifications may
result in an increase, decrease or no change of compensation.
Section 3.40 - Maximum Rate of Pay:
~
An employee will not be paid above the maximum rate established in the approved salary
schedule without approval of the City Manager.
Section 3.45 - Time Record:
All non-exempt employees are required to record their exact hours of work by completing
I
a record of time for each pay period. The employee should check the time sheet carefully to
assure it is accurate before signing and submitting it to his/her supervisor. If you think the
hours are incorrect, do not sign your sheet until it has been corrected. Never complete any
one else's time sheet and never allow anyone else to complete your time sheet. Employees
are responsible for time reflected on their time sheets.
October 1992 Employee Handbook - City of San Marcos Page 3 - 3
