Once an employee has exhausted his/her sick <br /> leave benefits or has remained disabled for six (6) months (180 days), he/she will receive only <br /> Workers' Compensation benefits. <br /> An employee who remains disabled by an occupational injury or illness for more than 180 <br /> calendar days or after he/she has used all accumulated sick leave benefits, as applicable, may <br /> also use any accrued, unused vacation credit or compensatory time-off to supplement the <br /> disability payments from Workers' Compensation. <br /> C. Compensation: Disability Due to Non-Occupational Causes: <br /> Employees whose disability is caused by a condition other than an on-the-job injury or <br /> illness must use their accumulated sick leave benefits until exhausted and may thereafter use <br /> any accrued vacation benefits or compensatory time-off to which they are entitled. <br /> , <br /> Otherwise, leaves of absence due to disability not resulting from occupational causes will be <br /> without pay. <br /> D. Accrual of Benefits While on Leave: <br /> While on leave of absence without payor following thirty (30) days of paid leave, <br /> employees will not earn or accrue sick leave benefits, vacation leave benefits, or holiday pay, <br /> but will retain their original service dates for purposes of future accrual. <br /> E. Return from Leave: (Includes Light Duty Status) <br /> The City will allow employees to return to work as soon as they have partially or fully <br /> recovered from their disability, if the City's needs permit.
