Each collection <br /> truck shall at all times be equipped with a shovel and <br /> a broom, or rake, to be used for the collection of <br /> spilled materials. <br /> 5.00 COMPLIANCE WITH LAWS <br /> The Contractor shall conduct operations under this Contract <br /> in compliance with all applicable laws. <br /> 6.00 EFFECTIVE DATE <br /> This Contract shall be effective upon execution and perfor- <br /> mance of such Contract shall begin on Jan. 1, 1993 . <br /> 7.00 NONDISCRIMINATION <br /> The Contractor shall not discriminate against any person in <br /> its employment practices or in the provision of services <br /> under this Contract on a basis prohibited under applicable <br /> laws. <br /> 8.00 INDEMNITY <br /> The Contractor shall indemnify and save harmless and defend <br /> the City, its officers, agents, servants, and employees" from <br /> and against any and all suits, actions, legal proceedings, <br /> claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses, and attorneys' <br /> fees to the extent resulting from a willful or negligent act <br /> or omission of the Contractor, its officers, agents, servants <br /> and employees in the performance of this Contract; provided, <br /> however, that the Contractor shall not be liable for any <br /> suits, expenses and attorneys' fees arising out of the award <br /> of this Contract or resulting solely from a willful or <br /> negligent act or omission of the City, its officers, agents, <br /> servants and employees. <br /> 9.00 LICENSES AND TAXES I <br /> The Contractor shall obtain all licenses and permits (other <br /> than the license and permit granted by the Contract) and <br /> promptly pay all taxes required by the City. <br /> 10.00 TERM <br /> The Contract shall be for a one (1) year period beginning <br /> upon the execution of the Contract and ending one (1) year <br /> thereafter. This Contract shall be renewed automatically for <br /> additional one (1) year terms thereafter, unless one party <br /> notifies the other party in writing, not less than sixty (60) <br /> days prior to the expiration of the initial one (1) year term <br /> or of any successive one (1) year term, of its intentions to <br /> terminate this Contract.
