2
Due to present funding constraints, FEMA must limit the number of physical FIS
and FIRM revisions processed. Consequently, we will not republish the FIS and
FIRM for the City of San Marcos to reflect the determination made by this
LOMR. However, should your community's FIS and FIRM warrant a physical
revision and republication in the future, the determination in this LOMR will
be incorporated at that time.
In addition to the changes made by this LOMR, it has corne to our attention
that due to a cartographic error, an area of 500-year flooding was left
unscreened on panel 0010 D of the September 5, 1990 FIRM. This area, which
lies between Purgatory Creek and Willow Springs Creek, is shown in green on
the enclosed annotated panel and will be corrected at the next physical map
revision processed for panel 0010 D.
Since this LOMR will not be printed and distributed to primary map users such
as local insurance agents and mortgage lenders, the community will serve as a
repository for this new data. We encourage you to disseminate widely through-
out the community the information reflected by this LOMR in order that
interested persons such as property owners, insurance agents and mortgage
lenders may benefit from this information. We also encourage you to give
consideration to preparing an article for publication in the community's local
newspaper. This article should describe the changes that have been made and
the assistance the community will provide in serving as a clearinghouse for
this data and interpreting National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) maps.
The maps as listed above and as revised by this letter should be used for all
flood insurance policies and renewals issued for your community.
This determination has been made pursuant to Section 206 of the Flood Disaster
Protection Act of 1973 (P. L. 93-234) and is in accordance with the National
Flood Insurance Act of 1968, as amended (Title XIII of the Housing and Urban
Development Act of 1968, P.L. 90-448), 42 D.S.C. 4001-4128, and L~4 CFR Part
65. As required by this legislation, a co~unity must adopt and enforce
floodplain management regulations in order to ensure continued eligibility to
participate in the NFIP. Therefore, the City of San Marcos must enforce these
regulations using, at a minimum, the elevations and zone designations in the
100-year floodplains as shown on your community's FIRM, including the modifi-
cations made by this LOMR.
A Consultation Coordination Officer has been designated to assist you with any
problems you may have concerning this LOMR. This officer will be the primary
FEMA contact for your community, and can be reached at the following address:
Mr. Jim LeGrotte, Acting Chief
FEMA, Natural & Technological
Hazards Division
Federal Regional Center
800 North Loop 288
Denton, Texas 76201-3698
(817) 898-9127
