<br /> METHODS <br /> * COUNSELING - Draw from present homeless individuals and at <br /> risk groups. Counseling would be by appointment and as the need <br /> arises. <br /> The counselor would establish and hold meetings of a support <br /> group once a week for intensive group counseling and positive <br /> reinforcement for participants. <br /> The focus of the counseling would be in the following area. <br /> (l)nutritional¡ (2) substance abuse treatment¡ (3)employment¡ <br /> and (4) medical and psychological. <br /> * DECREASE THE NUMBER OF HIGH RISK INDIVIDUALS PROM BECOMING <br /> HOMELESS - Counselor would be responsible for identifying, and <br /> counseling clients that are high risk in order to prevent the <br /> loss of home, utilities, etc. This would involve mediation <br /> with landlord and client. Additionally, the counselor would have <br /> to .determine whether to reinstate utility service with a deposit <br /> payment and pay deposits that would enable clients to secure <br /> shelter. <br /> Counseling would also include extensive budget and prioritizing <br /> of financial needs so that client would be able to independently <br /> pay utilities, rent payments and home mortgages. <br /> Page 5 <br />
