<br /> 31 <br /> RESOLUTION 1991- 48 R <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, EXPRESSING THE CITY'S <br /> POSITION ON PENDING STATE LEGISLATION <br /> PERTAINING TO CREATION OF THE TEXAS PROTECTED <br /> RIVERS SYSTEM; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br /> DATE. <br /> WHEREAS, Senate Bill l2Ø5 and companion House Bill 199Ø <br /> have been introduced in the 72nd Texas Legislature to <br /> establish the Texas Protected Rivers System, and to <br /> designate, as an initial protected river segment, the San <br /> Marcos River from Spring Lake Dam to its confluence with the <br /> Guadalupe River; and, <br /> vlHEREAS, as a city government, we regard our duty to <br /> serve as stewards of the river as one of our most important <br /> responsibilities; and, <br /> ~VHEREAS, the concern expressed by the Legislature for <br /> the protection and preservation of a unique river system such <br /> as San Marcos is shared by the people of San Marcos¡ and, <br /> WHEREAS, the San Marcos River flows from the heart of <br /> the City at
