<br /> WHEREAS, as the immediate custodian of the upper reaches <br /> of .the San Marcos River, the City has undertaken a number of <br /> projects to improve river quality, including acquiring and <br /> maintaining parkland along the river, and making an $8.5 <br /> million investment to convert to surface water for our <br /> municipal water supply to reduce our dependence on the <br /> aquifer, and making a $2 million investment in a wastewater <br /> treatment plant upgrade to maintain the high quality of <br /> treatment we currently provide; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br /> MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> PART 1: Tha t the City Council supports the purposes of <br /> Senate Bill l2Ø5 and companion House Bill 199Ø to study and <br /> preserve Texas River and to provide a process for including <br /> certain Texas rivers in a Protected River System. <br /> PART 2: That the City Council supports the adoption of <br /> Senate Bill l2Ø5 and companion House Bill 199Ø provided that <br /> the amendments shown on the attached list of reV1Slons are <br /> made to such bills. <br /> PART 3: That this Resolutions shall be in full force <br /> and effect from and after its passage. <br /> ADOPTED this 15th day of .w:~ <br /> c1Y~;Jf~ <br /> Janis K.
