Educa tional F acili ties Southwest Texas State University, a full 4 year multi-purpose university, is located on a hill overlooking the City of San Marcos. It is easily identified by the castle-like structure of Old Main which was the first building constructed when the University, then a college, began operation in 1901. It became a University on May 15, 1969, and now has an enrollment of more than 20,000 students from Texas, 48 other states and 60 foreign countries.
