Planning Process
The process for development of a surface water plant for the City
of San Marcos will consist of many factors and/or variables which
need to be addressed prior to actual construction of the plant.
In addressing these concerns, the City of San Marcos is developing
a Request for Proposal to solicit engineering services to assist
in the development of a surface water plant. As part of the
requested services, the engineer will be asked to investigate such
areas as:
1. possible plant locations.
2. Alternate sources of water.
3. Locations of raw water mains.
4. Locations for connecting to the existing system.
5. Required permitting.
6. Water quality standards.
It is anticipated that the above actions will be performed with
consideration begin given to the possibility of developing the
plant as a regional type facility as per studies and/or reports of
the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority and the Hays County Water
Development Board.
