Mr. Moore then moved to amend the Ordinance in SECTION 1. "That the tax rate for the City of San Marcos, Texas, for the tax year 1983 be, and is hereby, set at sixty-eight cents (68~) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of the taxable value of real and personal property not exempt from taxation by the consti- tution and laws of this state situated within the corporate limits of said City," and SECTION 2. A. "For the payment of current expenses and to be deposited in the general fund sixty-two cents (62~) on each one hundred dollars ($100) of the taxable value of such property;" rather than 69~ and 631, respectively. Mr. Farr seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The City Secretary read the amendments into the record. City Manager A. C. Gonzalez advised the Council we would not be able to retain the fiscal posture we have had and that we could not predict the future outcome. The Council then voted unanimously in favor of adoption of the Ordinance, as amended. Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration the adoption of an Ordin- ance on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE 1982-41, ADOPTED SEPTEMBER 7, 1982, WHICH SET FORTH AN ITEMIZED ESTIM- ATE OF THE EXPENSE OF CONDUCTING EACH ADMINISTRATIVE UNIT OF THE MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT OF SAID CITY FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER l, 1982, AND ENDING ON SEPTEMBER 30, 1983, AND APPROPRIATED MONEY FOR THE VARIOUS FUNDS AND PURPOSES OF SUCH ESTIMATE TO REVISE SAID ESTIMATES AND TO REAPPROPRIATE SAID FUNDS; ADOPT- ING SAID REVISIONS AND ESTIMATES AND DECLARING AN EMER- GENCY. Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration adoption of an Ordinance on emergency, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 2-31 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO PRESCRIBE THE NUMBER OF POSITIONS IN EACH CLASSIFICATION OF POLICEMEN AND FIREMEN EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. Mr. Farr moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. Brown seconded the motion. Mr. Farr then moved to amend the Ordinance under Section 2-31. in the Police Department to reflect 9 authorized Corporal positions rather than 8, and Mr. Brown seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The City Secretary read the amendment into the record. The Council then voted unanimous approval of the Ordinance on emergency. Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration approval of an Ordinance on second reading, the caption which was read as follows: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY TO ADD A SECTION,TO BE NUM- BERED 30-9, TO REQUIRE PAYMENT OF A FEE FOR THE PROVI- SION BY SAID CITY OF BLUELINES OF MAPS OF CITY'S WATER AND WASTEWATER LINES AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
