<br /> 195 <br /> RAMON LUCIO, RIO VISTA, RIO VISTA ANNEX, AND BICENTENNIAL <br /> PARKS RECREATION DEVELOPMENT <br /> TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 14 <br /> FILTRATION/DETENTION SYSTEM <br /> 14-01 GENERAL: <br /> a. All work under this specification is subject to the <br /> applicable Items of the Texas State Department of Highways and <br /> Public Transportation "Standard Specifications for Construction of <br /> Highways, Streets, and Bridges," 1982. <br /> 14-02 SCOPE: <br /> a. This specification shall consist of constructing the <br /> drainage structures at various sites with reinforced concrete <br /> inlets, reinforced concrete splitter boxes, subgrade preparation, <br /> structural excavation, reinforced concrete pipe, sand filter <br /> elements, concrete headwalls to the lines, grades and details as <br /> shown on the drawings, and/or required for complete and usable <br /> facilities. <br /> b. The Contractor shall contact the Engineer at appropriate <br /> times during the construction effort to give Engineer an <br /> opportunity to inspect the items of construction before same are <br /> buried or concealed by backfill materials. The Engineer shall NOT <br /> be responsible for day to day inspection of the work~ but will make <br /> periodic visits to insure that the work is being accomplished in <br /> accordance with these specifications, the drawings and the best <br /> practice of the trades involved. <br /> 14-03 PROTECTION: <br /> a. Adequate protection measures shall be provided to protect <br /> workmen and passersby on the site. <br /> b. Surface drainage (with temporary erosion control, measured <br /> for payment under Specification 19 shall be provided for throughout <br /> the construction period. <br /> c. For trenches deeper than 5', the Contractor shall strictly <br /> observe the pertinent portions (as they may apply to the jobsite) <br /> of the Occupational Safety and HealthSul:>part P- Excavations, <br /> Trenching, and Shoring. A copy is attached to the end of <br /> Specification 12 for Contractor's use (pages numbered 179 to 186 <br /> inclusive). IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO <br /> FAMILIARIZE HIMSELF I HERSELF WITH ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS AND TO <br /> STRICTLY ADHERE TO ALL OF THEM. <br /> 14-1 <br />
